Frimpong smokes Storey to reclaim Southern Area title at York Hall

Evolve fighter Lewis 'Free Smoke' Frimpong reclaimed the Southern Area Super-Bantamweight Title at York Hall, Bethnal Green on 12 October 2024 - forcing defending champion Frankie Storey to retire at the end of round eight in what promoter Steve Goodwin called 'one of the best non-televised shows it has ever seen.'
“One of the best non-televised shows it has ever seen.”
Lewis came in as a vastly experienced pressure fighter with a great engine and put on a textbook performance - trapping Storey on the ropes time and again and unloading combinations in the clinch. The defending champion never landed clean from outside, and as the rounds went on the damage piled up. His corner pulled him out at the bell to end the eighth, handing Lewis the title back.
It took Lewis to nine wins as a pro and added another belt to a career packed with Southern Area titles across two weight classes. The Oxford-based southpaw fights out of Goodwin Boxing alongside his identical twin and Evolve stablemate Courtney Frimpong, with both brothers trained at the academy by head coach Andy Gill.
A huge night for Lewis, for Andy, and for everyone at Evolve.
